And the lesson of this story is

You may rant and rave that you don't like green eggs and ham, give speeches and threaten to shut down the government, but try, just  it try and you may decide you DO like green eggs and ham

Digital Equipment Corporation

Recently I came across a Facebook group for Digital Equipment Corporation with a surprising number of members (6125 as of this posting). I'm constantly meeting folks who have worked for DEC at some point in their careers. The majority of them say it was the best place they had ever worked.  I spent about 13 years in Westminster working as a technician. I started in July 1973, testing timing boards for the 11/45 (the TIG board). Later on to other New Hampshire sites in Nashua and Merrimack.

Like others, I transitioned into Compaq and then to HP and took the final early retirement. But I'm still in the industry for a startup company.

I decided to post a few photos of the DEC years for the Facebook community and anyone else that was lucky enough to work for this company in the Ken Olson days.

In the final days of DEC, it was common practice to pose in front of the corporate sign

How many people have ever done wirewrapping? Or worse put a ECO in a backplane?

Fifty years ago

Fifty years again the Ku Klux Klan dynamited a Birmingham church killing 4 little girls. Sadly the KKK is estimated to still have 5,000 to 8,000 followers. Why?

I'm extremely lucky to have the opportunity to work out of my home, but I had a commute in heavy traffic I would never be this depressed.

We are crawling along, but at least we have jobs to go to

Never let it get you THIS depressed
